New Andromeda Hotel

I wrote this piece a few years back, inspired by the artist Joseph Cornell‘s shadow box constructions, but never found the right home for it. However, when the online magazine Pareidolia Literary announced that their second issue would have a Wunderkammer (Cabinet of Curiosities) theme, I was thrilled that they chose to include “New Andromeda […]

Two bits of news– The reading that I mentioned in my last update has been recorded and is now on YouTube with Eric Schaller, Daniel Braum, and myself reading from our stories from the forthcoming anthology, The Dark Heart of the Wood. Also, I have a new flash fiction piece in issue 2 of the […]

About Me

Welcome to the online home of Rudi Dornemann.

I write fiction, generally fantasy or science fiction, most of which is listed here.

From 2007 to 2011, I wrote flash fiction for The Daily Cabal. (I’ve listed my favorite 12 Cabal contributions here.)

Nonfictionwise, for several years, I wrote reviews for The Rain Taxi Review of Books.

Notes from an Imaginary Place (Monthly Email & Podcast)

I’m sending fiction out through a monthly email newsletter, Notes from an Imaginary Place. Each installment will also be available as a podcast.

The first 26 installments will be an architectural alphabet, from Archive to Ziggurat (although not necessarily in that order). Each story puts you in another, fairly fantastical, place for 15 minutes or so of reading or listening time.

Click below to sign up for the emails. I’ll include podcast links in each email (and you can find/subscribe to the podcast via your favorite podcast app or service).

Here’s an archive of all the episodes so far.
